Curriculum

Welcome to the Curriculum Page

  • The children's 'Learning Journey' is centred on engaging, meaningful and exciting 'Big Ideas' (or themes) such as "Chocolate", "Treasure" and "Our Place in Space".
  • The IPC links English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and Design Technology all under the 'Big Idea'.
  • For example, children who are working on the 'Big Idea' of 'Chocolate' will not only be sampling and making it, but learning about the geography of where cocoa beans are grown, the history of chocolate in the world including the trade routes and how that affected society, they will be designing packaging for their own product, and using persuasive langauge to sell their product during literacy.
  • By linking all learning under the 'Big Idea', Rosetta children are better able to contextualise their learning, and it is more enjoyable for them also.  We aim that the curriculum at Rosetta prepares the children for the future, teaching them thinking skills and how to learn and access information.
  • Details about the learning in the 'Big Idea' for each year group are available below in the Big Idea Road Maps.
  • Details about the expectations for what pupils should learn about and be able to demonstrate by the end of the year in their work for each subject are available below.
