The school big litter pick of the school grounds and within Canning Town Recreation Ground was a HUGE success. We collected around 4 bin bags full of rubbish and disposed of it appropriately. The children were really excited about doing something for their local community and participated enthusiastically. Afterwards classes took part in litter themed writing activities and produced some fantastic work. The day has hopefully left the children with a lasting sense of pride in their local area as well as shown them how they can take responsibility in keeping it nice; whilst also producing writing which was relevant to them and gave them a purpose for their writing. We even made it into the local newspaper!
