At Rosetta, we teach all of the foundation National Curriculum subjects through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

The IPC is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning.

The IPC has been designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers make all learning exciting, active and meaningful for children. Learning with the IPC takes a global approach; helping children to connect their learning to where they are living now as well as looking at the learning from the perspective of other people in other countries. 

  What are the IPC units?

The IPC units are all designed to allow children to make purposeful links and connections throughout their learning and to see how their subject learning is related to the world they live in. Within each unit, the IPC suggests many ideas for collaborative learning, for active learning, for learning outside the classroom, for role-play, and for children learning from each other!

Each IPC unit links a range of subjects including Science, History, Geography, ICT, Art and PE and provides many opportunities to link English and Mathematics too! 

 

Each unit is appropriate for one of three different age-groups: five to seven year olds, seven to nine year olds, and nine to twelve year olds. The IPC calls these age groups Mileposts, and here is which Milepost your child is working in:

• Foundation Stage - Early Years
• Years 1 and 2 - Milepost 1
• Years 3 and 4 - Milepost 2
• Years 5 and 6 - Milepost 3

 

What is my child learning in IPC?

At Rosetta, we change the IPC unit that we are looking at every half term. Units last from anything between 5 to 11 weeks. Each unit covers different subjects and we try very hard to teach our English and Mathematics through the IPC too to make sure that our children get the most from these units as possible.
